Strawberry Nails

Hey everyone! Hope your weekend is going well!

I have been on an unintentional freehand roll these last few days. I hardly ever go for freehand because I am such a perfectionist when it comes to my nails. That's why I love stamping so much! :)

But I saw these nails on Pinterest a while back and thought they were too cute! I  chose OPI Love is a Racket for the base which I think looks just like strawberry jam. Then I got Dustin to freehand the leaves. I wanted to use scotch tape to make them, but Dustin did a pretty good job! He used Sally Hansen Insta Dri in Lickety Slick Lime and a black creme for the seeds.

So although I can't say freehand is my fave, I thought these still turned out cute. Makes me excited for summer!

OPI Houston We Have a Purple Jelly Sandwich

TGIF guys! Dustin and I are hard at work with You Mix and we hope to catch up soon on all the orders. Don't forget that the last day to get your order in and shipped before we move is Monday!!

My post today features a polish that I have had for about a year now and I am just now wearing it. haha I tried to wear it a few different times but never liked how it looked. As my painting skills have improved, this polish is finally getting some love! This is 2 coats below. I forgot how much I love a jelly finish...so shiny and squishy!

I added a coat of OPI Servin' Up Sparkle and then another thin layer of HWHAP over that.

So besides the OPI sorbets, what are your favorite jellies? I have decided that I need more in my life! Bonus points for someone that knows of a mint or turquoise one! :)

Random Spring Swatches + You Mix Update

Hey ya'll!

I don't have anything too exciting today, but I keep accumulating random swatch pics, so I thought I'd share them now that I have a few.

This first one is Pedal Faster Suzi from OPI's Holland collection. The formula on this was pretty thin and watery. Has anyone else had this experience with this shade? It took a while to dry because of how many coats it needed.

Next is Essie Navigate Her. I love this green! In the bottle I didn't think it looked like much, but once I had it on I couldn't stop looking at it. I tend to gravitate towards green polish so I have a lot, but this Essie is definitely at the top pick for me!

And finally, here is OPI's I Don't Give a Rotterdam. Love that name. haha For some reason I had tip wear on this mani pretty fast, but who knows if that was more my fault than this polish. This color is very pretty though.

So there's my swatches that you have all seen a million times before, but I still to post them!

As for the You Mix update: Dustin and I are moving across the country next week, and as a result we will not be shipping orders for a few weeks. We will still accept orders during that time, but they won't ship for a little while. The cut off date for orders to ship before we move is Monday April 2. The good news is that this means Dustin has graduated school and we will no longer have a lag in shipping once we get settled from moving! We hope to streamline our business more and make it better than ever! Thanks to those of you who have helped make our business a success, we LOVE working with you! Please don't hesitate to email me if you have any questions!

Thanks!

Purple Skittles Mani

Hi readers!

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend! My husband and I have been super busy with You Mix and can never seem to fully catch up...but I guess that's a good problem to have right? haha

You can probably tell that I chopped my nails way down. I have been in a short nail phase for a few weeks now, but now I can't decide if I want to grow them out or keep them shorter. It's a lot easier maintenance wise, but I think these pics are a little too short for my taste.

Purple was one of my very first loves in terms of what color I would wear on my nails before I became a polish addice. I feel like it's been a while, so I went all out with a different purple for each finger! I am ticked that I forgot to get my thumb in any pics, because it tied the whole mani together!

Pinky to pointer: Zoya Mira, ChG Sweet Hook under ChG Marry a Millionaire, OPI Dutch Ya Just Love OPI, ChG Sweet Hook with Sally Hansen Purple Chrome Pen for stamping. My thumb was sporting Zoya Julianne.

What used to be your favorite color to wear before you discovered the sweet world of nail polish?

Black & White 10 Day Challenge Day 4: Color on White

Hi lovely readers!

This is Day 4 of the Black and White Challenge! So far I am hanging in there! :)

The challenge task for today is color on a white base. This was easy because the possibilities are endless!  I chose some colors that I knew would show up on white that probably wouldn't normally show up on other colors as well. I like the subtle effect it gives.  I used Color Club Pretty in Platinum for the base, which isn't totally white but it still works! :P Plate is XL from You Mix and the colors used from pointer to pinky: China Glaze Life Preserver, China Glaze Peachy Keen, China Glaze Aquadelic, and OPI Fly.

It's kind of a funky combo of colors, but that's what I am all about these days!

Go see what the others participating in this challenge have come up with today:

OPI Did It on 'Em + Lacquistry Valentine Shredded

Hey everyone! Just a quick post from me today...Dustin and I have LOTS of orders to fill for You Mix and we are really hoping to finish them tonight and have them sent tomorrow! :)

Here is 3 thin coats of OPI's Did It on 'Em from the Nicki Minaj collection. I liked this color more than I thought I was going to. But greens are oddly my favorite color to wear on my nails, even though it's not my favorite color in general. This shade reminds me of the green Wrigley's gum!

I topped this off with Valentine's Shredded from Lacquistry, a holo pink shard glitter. I do like this, but I wish the pieces were just a little bit smaller.

So there you have it! Have a great weekend and tomorrow I will be back with another black and white challenge post!

OPI Thanks a Windmillion + Nail Art

Hi everyone! It's almost Friday and I can't wait!! I have also been having some pain when I move one of my eyes and I am thinking it's eyestrain or that I need a different prescription for that eye? Have any of you experienced this? I go to the eye doctor Saturday morning, but it's so annoying to deal with!

Anyway...on to what you are really here for...the nails! My base polish for today's look is OPI Thanks a Windmillion, a dusty mint creme. I love mint, so I love this! This is was 2 coats, but it almost covered in one.

So I may have gotten carried away with this nail art. haha I had a look in mind, but I feel like the pearls might have taken over. I do like the pink and mint color combo, but I ended up doing only one hand because I didn't want my nails to look ridiculous. haha Maybe it's because my nails are short? I dunno.

The glitter is NYX Girls Dreamy Glitter. Most of the stars placed themselves pretty well, but I did use tweezers to place a few more on each nail.

Part of me likes this and part of me doesn't. What do YOU think?  :)

Colorful French Tips

Hello hello!

Who else is ready for a break? I had a dream that I went on a cruise with my husband and since then it's all I can think about! haha

Well for today's mani my husband wanted to play around with the bright colors paired with nude trend again. I have actually seen similar manis around, though hubby thinks he came up with it himself. haha We used OPI Did You 'ear About Van Gogh as the base. The tips from pointer to pinky are all Color Club Poptastic: Chelsea Girl, Almost Famous, Poptastic, Wahrhol, and Twiggie.

Tip: We used stickers to get the perfect straight edge.

And to top it off with a little stamping, a cute bow from a You Mix XXL plate in Konad white.

Thanks for reading!

Neon/Neutral + Nail Art

Hey! I know I have been a bad blogger this week. I have had no inspiration lately so I didn't want to bore you with the more plain looks I have been sporting. But today I do have something fun to show you finally!

I have some serious spring fever and the gorgeous bright colors for spring are calling to me...I can't wait for sunshine, warmer temperatures, skirts without leggings and fun wedge sandals! So to help with that, I used a color combo that's popular this season: the neon/neutral combo. It's so simple, but why had I never thought of it before? It's become an obsession of mine.

To start, I chose the perfect neutral shade: Did You 'ear About Van Gogh from OPI's 2012 Holland collection.

Using the scotch tape method, Color Club Warhol and Sinful Colors Neon Melon are on the diagonal corner of the nail. And it's finished off with a chain design from one of the You Mix Cosmetics XL stamping plates.

How many of you are just dying for spring like me? And what about your thoughts on the neon/neutral trend?

Pretty and Polished Party on My Yacht Funky French

Hi guys! I have been meaning to post this for a while now, but things got busy...so this feels like a long time coming!

As I am sure you are all aware, indie polish (etsy/frankens etc...) is having a huge moment right now. It's pretty amazing because there are some sweet polishes out there! So this is one of those and it comes from an Etsy shop called Pretty and Polished. This is called Party on my Yacht. This polish consists of purple, green, yellow and pink glitters as well as tiny blue bar glitters in a milky white base. I bought the mini version of this but I should have gotten the full size!

For a little something extra, I added OPI Dutch Ya Just Love OPI? to the tips.

Have you guys been loving the indie polish craze or are you not so into it?

OPI Love is a Racket + Lacquistry Valentine Shards

Hi there!

This mani turned out to be more Valentine's themed than was intentional, but how can it not when the polishes have Love and Valentine in the name? haha Must be a subconscious thing.

I started with OPI's Love is a Racket. A sparkle, flecky, strawberry red. This is 2 coats.

Then I used Lacquistry's Valentine Shards in 2 coats. This is a holo pink irregular cut glitter. I am loving these right now! Well, I am just loving Lacquistry's shop period...I just received 3 more of her fabulous polishes the other day! :)

The only thing that bothered me about this mani is that this layering combo looks just like Color Club Fame and Fortune, which I own. So I will defnitely be trying this out with other colors and see what I can come up with. I always try to find unexpected layering combos that turn out working well together. Have any of you come up with some lately?

Happy Valentine's Day Nail Art!

Happy Valentine's Day! I hope you are all having a special day. ;) My husband is off at his internship most of the day so it's just me and my other little Valentine (my 15 month old daughter) today.

I finally got to collaborate with Dustin and have him help out with my nails...he is so busy that it's been a while! So he gets pretty much all the credit for today's mani. He chose China Glaze Fuchsia Fanatic and layered one coat of China Glaze Ring in the Red on top of that.

Then we picked OPI Pink Friday to stamp the fishnet design from a Konad plate and Konad White and an image from a You Mix XXL plate to create the heart French tip. I love how it came out!

Do you have any plans for Valentine's Day?
