Pop Culture Cosmetics Wish Upon a Star

Hey everyone!

Just a quick mani to show you today. This is 2 coats of Wish Upon a Star from Pop Culture Cosmetics over Zoya Mira. I loved wearing this polish! Even though there is only one color involved, it's so not boring!

If you haven't checked out Pop Culture Cosmetics before you really should...LOTS of eye candy in that shop!

Hit Polish Peacock Plumage

I have quite the backlog of manis to show ya'll after my hiatus from blogging!

This is Peacock Plumage from Hit Polish. What a perfect combo of glitters! I quite enjoyed wearing this mani for a few days without getting sick of it like I usually do.

I used Milani Mint Chip and Peacock...funny coincidence!

Do any of you have Hit Polish on your radar?

Spellbound Nails Unholy Holo + Halloween Stamping

Happy Halloween!

I don't have a lot of experience with thermal polishes but I know that there are a lot of them popping up in the indie world lately. I bought a mini thermal duo from Spellbound Nails from her Halloween collection this year. Not only are they thermal, they are scented! I am showing you Unholy Holo from this duo today. I chose Apple Cinnamon for my scent. The formula was pretty sheer so I did about 4 coats for coverage. The polish looks orange in the bottle but once it dried on my nail it turned a light green. You can see the orange still just barely at my tips.

I added some stamping from Bundle Monster's holiday collection in black and topcoated it.

Here I just dipped my tips in ice water to make more of the orange visible. I also used my flash to show off the pretty holo effect.

And here they are after a full dunk in ice water...totally orange! Thermals are super fun! I just wish I could figure out how to get the two toned effect to last longer because I think that's when they look the best.

What do you ladies think of thermal polishes? I would love to know any tips or tricks you may have!

Also, I wanted to share my Halloween nail art roundup post, here, from a couple years ago in case you are looking for some last minute inspiration!

Maya Cosmetics: Hyperbole

Good afternoon!

Just a quick recent mani today. This is Hyperbole from Maya Cosmetics. They seem to have fallen off the radar for a few months but are planning on making a comeback soon with a sale!

I layered one coat over China Glaze Ride the Waves. I like the funky, unexpected glitter combo that Hyperbole has.

Do you own any polish from Maya Cosmetics?

Pop Culture Cosmetics Swatches and Review

*Press Sample*

Hi lovely readers!

I have a post full of eye candy for you today! Have you heard of Pop Culture Cosmetics before? This is an indie brand with a TON of polishes to choose from...it's glittery goodness to the max! I have 5 of their newer polishes to share with you today...let's take a look!

First, is Piñata Killer, part of the Anniversary collection. Holy cow, there is a LOT going on here! I am pretty sure that I didn't even get every glitter on my nails that is in the bottle. So many different kinds! I had the best luck getting a blob of this and swiping it on some paper and then picking and choosing which glitters I wanted to place where. That way I got a nice variety. I did one coat and then the pick and choose method over Zoya Elodie. I really like the iridescent glitters in here, they really complement the matte glitters.

Next up, is Beyond the Fence from the Factions collection. I did 3 coats here and placed a few of the larger glitters. There are moons, stars and circles in this one!  This one has a lot of depth to it and I really love the shimmer in the base...a perfect fall shade!

Another polish from the Factions collection, this is The Peaceful. The cherry red base is richly pigmented and I only needed 2 coats to cover. I placed a few of the larger circles but most of them came out well on their own as I was painting. I like this spin on a classic polish color...who said red polish had to be boring? ;)

Next up is a personal fave of mine, Purple Holo-versary, also from the Anniversary collection. I layered 2 coats with a few larger glitter placements over Sally Hansen Grape Escape from the Insta-Dri line. This could be built up to cover on it's own in more coats as well. Everything works together so well in this polish...just gorgeous!

Last but not least, a polish from the Pop Culture Seasonal polish selections called Be Mine Frankenstein. This is such a creative twist on the typical colors we see in most Halloween polishes. The shape glitters really contribute to that but I am also loving the tiny metallic glitters as well. Those really bring it all together. This is 2 coats over a black creme. Some larger glitters placed.

I want to note that the fact that I had to pick and place some of the larger glitters in these polishes is not a problem with the polish itself, just a characteristic of the large, shaped glitter in general.

I would love to know what you think of these!

I am a huge fan of Pop Culture Cosmetics  (I have yet to post some of my personal purchases here on the blog!). One look at their site and I know you'll be hooked too! SO much eye candy to be had! Another thing I like about PCC is that they offer minis. I can pretty guarantee I will never use an entire full size indie so I like having this option.

*You can purchase Pop Culture Cosmetics polishes on their website, popculturecosmetics.com, or on Etsy.

*Follow them on Facebook and Twitter as well! Need incentive? You'll find a giveaway going on that ends in 2 days!

Tawdry Terrier Swatches and Review

*press sample*

Hi readers!

It's defnitely been a busy day for me today. Just when I think life can't get any busier it does and next thing I know my day is practically over. ;)

Anyway, I have a new indie brand to share with you today! The name is Tawdry Terrier. My package came so carefully and thoughtfully wrapped, there was no question that the polishes were going to be intact once I opened them. Look how cute!

Each polish came individually wrapped in tissue paper and then put in a cute box labeled as you can see below.

A little sneak peek...ready for swatches?

First up, is Bark the Sun Up. I layered one coat over Zoya Arizona. There is a slight pink-ish shimmer  in here that is super pretty!

Preppy Puppy is one of my faves (surprise, surprise) for the pink color as well as the shimmer. I layered one coat over Zoya Lara.

Moondoggie is my other fave! I love how sparkly this is. One coat over Zoya Robyn. I feel like my pics don't do it justice!

Which polishes are catching your eye?

You can find the Tawdry Terrier shop on Etsy *here* and stay updated on their Facebook page *here*.   There are some previews of their upcoming fall collection to check out, too!

KBShimmer Fall 2013 Selections: Swatches and Review!

*press sample*

Good morning!

I have an exciting post for you today! I am happy to finally show you these gorgeous new shades from KBShimmer's upcoming fall collection! There are lots of photos, so I will let them do most of the talking. :)

First is You Autumn Know. I did 3 coats over 1 coat of Essie Marshmallow just for a nice foundation...awesome formula that was super easy to spread even with a base full of glitter. This seems like a different spin on a fall polish and I really like it!

Next is Teal Another Tail. This is 3 coats. This has a predominant pinky/purple shifting shimmer fleck that even looks gold at some angles. A very original polish shade that I don't think I would get bored of wearing too soon! And once again, a perfect formula.

I was curious to see what this looked like over black because one coat is more sheer and it has the awesome shifting shimmer in it...I wasn't disappointed! It takes on a whole new look that is too pretty!

The final polish that I have from this collection is called Excuse Me, I Blurpled. This has a pretty dark blue leaning purple base with a variety of magenta, blue and even a little copper glitter. I did 2 coats to get full coverage, very easy to spread and cover.

Because the dark base makes it harder to see the what all is going on in this pretty polish in photos, here is a macro so you can get a better idea:

I always love seeing what Christy comes up with for her new polishes. She never disappoints and makes something for everyone, I think!

The KBShimmer fall collection will be available Sept. 1 for $8.75 a bottle at KBShimmer.com.

Tell me which ones you are dying to get your hands on!
