Essie Smooth Sailing+ Nailventurous Nail Lacquers Blue Fix+You Mix News

Happy Saturday!

It's pretty rare that I ever post an Essie. I think I only own 3. haha Essie is just usually a little boring for me. But this color, Smooth Sailing is an exception! I love the shade of periwinkle and the flecks of shimmer.

I have been loving all of the reverse glitter gradients that have been posted lately...so we gave that a try with Nailventurous Nail Lacquers Blue Fix. I love this glitter! It's a super fine bright blue with a greenish holo effect.

Also, did you know Amy (of Nailventurous Nail Lacquers) is opening up an Etsy shop soon? Definitely keep an eye out for that so you don't miss out on her fabulous creations!

Here's a pic with flash to show the holo. Pretty...

Also, if you didn't already know, my husband and I's site You Mix Cosmetics has been updated with color shifting glitter, silver holo square glitter, and TONS more glitters. Our black and white bar glitters have already sold out, but don't worry, we are getting more!

  6. I just purchased a few Essie minis the other day and like you feel that they are generally not my style. But you are right. This is a gorgeous blue. This is the first reverse gradient mani I have seen and I love it!

  7. Smooth Sailing was and is a huge hit with many including me. You might be surprised to try 2 of the new spring Essies...they are not on the boring line at all.Play Date really surprised me. I thought just one more chalky light pastel lavender - yuck. But when I played with it, I was surprised to find it's very pigmented and not pastel. It's got a great and different not lavender, not violet shade - would have been nice if it had this sparkle that Smooth Sailing has in it. But you can always use a topper on it (BTW - love your reverse gradient here despite I adore Smooth Sailing all on it's own glory). Also of worth you time to take a look at is Essie's Navigate Her - a green like no green I have and it also is not as light as a pastel. It's a great great that is more yellow that pistachio. From last summer's Essie and you can still find it on line is one you NEED to check out - Brazilliant. It's perfect for our coral/orange phase we are going to visit this year. It has a lightness, but shimmer and fully saturated. It does not read well from the bottle. You need to play with it. Next to the OPI "Hague" from the Holland collection that is not quite neon orange - it's a major hit...no Halloween orange and like no other orange or red/orange I have.

The reverse gradients are nice - I find I am tried of the heaviness of the glitters we have collected for the last # of years...I am liking the glitters we used to complain about being bald or not covering well - and using those for gradients as well as line them for French tips.
