Revlon Colorstay Rainforest + NYX Gilded Glitter

Hi everyone!

I guess it's about that time to be posting some green manicures since St. Patricks Day is upon us. I love wearing greens so this shouldn't be too hard. So for my first St Patrick's Day look, I used Revlon Colorstay polish in Rainforest. I love this green and the fleck shimmer/glitter had me sold!

I thought that NYX Gilded Glitter would be the perfect compliment to Rainforest and I was not dissapointed! If I knew any better I would get a backup bottle of Gilded Glitter. It's a go to layering polish for me that looks great over just about anything!

Have you started doing any green manis yet?

  6. I am crazy over this Rainforest shade. However more crazy over the entire new line of 'lasts up to 11 days' of this new Revlon Colorstay formula that has been out since just after holiday season. The bottle shape is cylinder so you cannot mistake it for another Revlon formula. It really DOES last up to 11 days - I get sometimes 14 days out of it when I put a new coat over it to help fill in the growth lines at the cuticle. I don't want to reach for anything else right now for my manis because of the super long wear. I tried using a whole range of shades. The darker shades seem to last longer. However one of the lighest shades, Buttercup, is beautiful - a yellow I can actually wear - but that one and a super light pink seem to not last as long as the other shades. Might just have been my experimenting with if you really need the Revlon Colorstay base and top coats (you don't). However, I found this new formulation does not work at all with Orly Bonder base - the color pops off like almost a full fake nail full! I had gone back and forth about what I would wear for my actual Sat upcoming - and I might just use this one! But then also toying with the idea of a softer green and dragging out the Muppets green glitter Fresh Frog - hard to find anytime to wear it and it will read crazy like the day kind of is most places with funny hats and green bow ties! Please folks, try this newer Revlon line - it's just amazing! Way cheaper than Shellac!

    1. I had been hoarding the old Revlon Colorstay from EBay and was overjoyed to see that the new formulas were finally available after three or more years. I am wearing Spanish Moss, a muted green, for St. Patrick's day. I do find that the base coat is not necessary but the top coat is essential. And yes, it does last and last and last. I am one of those people whose polish chips the first or second day if I don't use Colorstay, so I really love these. Also, polish never seems to dry on me. Four hours later I would take a nap and have the imprint of the sheet on my poor nails. This formula dries in a flash! Another great feature! I am loving this stuff.

    2. I am very new to the mani world, in fact just had my first mani a few months ago, shellac. As a music therapist who plays harp, I am told people watch my hands a LOT, so I decided its time for me to make my nails pretty. I decided I want to learn how to do my nails myself. I love your blog and am getting all kinds of ideas. I was excited to buy the revlon colorstay after hearing how longlasting it was. I got the light pink and base coat. my store was out of the topcoat, The pink was so light and it seemed I needed more coats. Is it normal to have to do two coats of the color? Please ladies, let me know your usual regime. Base coat, color coat (2 or 3?) the top coat? Also I tried using the Sally hard as diamonds over the first color coat, and got a terrible number of imprints. Do I put a holo coat on top of everything or just under the top coat? Help for the newby? Confused.

    3. Hi there! It's very normal to have to do 2-3 coats of color. It's considered very lucky if you get full coverage in one coat. :) I usually use a cuticle cream, file my nails, and then use a base coat, 2-3 coats of color, and then a fast dry topcoat. It's usually a good idea to to put topcoat on all polish. Hope that helps!!

  7. I haven't started any green mani's yet. I did just go buy a green today though. That makes me own a total of three green polishes. Lol. I am loving the layered look of the mani you came up with!
