Zoya Ultra Pixie Dust Swatches and Review

Hey everyone!

Zoya has released a small collection of a new breed of their gorgeous Pixie Dust line called Ultra Pixie Dust. These have larger glitter pieces and have a chunkier texture than the original Pixie Dusts. To me, these seem too have a more matte finish as well. Let's take a look!

Arianna is a cranberry/wine shade.

Noir is a deep plum purple shade.

And finally Oswin, a bright red shade. Reminds me of Dorothy's shoes from Wizard of Oz, right?!

I love these next generation Pixie Dusts. They look like jewelry for your nails!

There's a few tips for applying these to get the intended finish. These come straight from Zoya.

For best results: Prep nail with Zoya Remove Nail Polish Remover and Prep. Apply 1-3 (for full coverage) thin coats of Zoya PixieDust polish. Allow product to dry completely between each coat for full effect. Do not use a base coat or top coat.

If polish base does not dry down to a matte finish this may be due to not enough wait time between coats or because the color was not applied to a perfectly clean surface that is free of base coat (note: some basecoats may prevent the color from drying properly). This YouTube video is another source to get help with application:

SinfulColors Full Throttle Select Swatches and Review

Hey everyone!

Hope you had a great weekend. Today I'm showing you 3 of the 5 polishes in the upcoming SinfulColors Full Throttle collection which features a "rubberized texture" finish.

Race Rubber is a dark maroon /purple. I did 2 coats. The texture finish takes a bit to show up but once it's dry it gets a slightly bumpy texture similar to a texture creme only not as textured but also a rubber look to the finish. Kind of hard to describe but hopefully you can see what I mean in my photos!

Red Tired is an orange-y red. It looks more neon here than in person...my camera just didn't want to pick up it's true color. 2 coats.

And finally, Burn Rubber a bright orange. 2 coats.

There is also a blue and pink shade included in this collection. If you like textures, this is a new one to check out! I think this is currently popping up in Walgreens and Rite Aid by now and will retail for $1.99 each.

Zoya Magical Pixie Dust Summer 2014 Swatches and Review

Happy Friday!

I've got swatches of Zoya's new Magical Pixie Dusts for Summer 2014 for you today! I seriously love the Magical Pixie Dust line. It's so freakin' blinged out thanks to the holo glitters and with no base or topcoat required....Yes, please!

As a note on the formula of these: Not sure if it's just me, but I felt that this summer collection applied a lot more evenly and easier than the original Magical Pixies. I think that this is because these newer ones have a more obvious tint to the base which helps even things out and cover better. All of my swatches are 2 coats.

Bar is a nude glitter. I love this. I feel like it matches my skin perfectly which makes my nails look like they are naturally blinged out. You get the best of both worlds: no in-your-face colors but a fabulous shine!

Ginni is an almost bubblegum pink shade. I love anything pink, so of course this is a fave for me as well.

And finally, Arlo. This magenta shade reminds me of grape popsicle juice. Hello, summer!

I obviously love these and recommend them to anyone. I know not everyone is on the texture train though. I honestly wasn't sure about the Magical Pixie Dusts until I got some of the spring ones in the Earth Day promotion. I quickly changed my mind after trying this new finish out in person!

Essie The Girls Are Out + Julie G Crushed Candy Criss Cross Nail Art

Hello readers!

This mani is inspired by Jacki from Adventures in Acetone. She is such a fun nail artist and blogger and I love the texture criss cross idea she came up with. I decided to use Essie The Girls Are Out and Julie G Crushed Candy for my take on the look. It used lots of striping tape and patience!

My accent nail is the same Essie with Orly Be Brave. I think all of these polishes complimented each other quite nicely!

I am still loving the textured polish trend...what about you?

Sinful Colors Crystal Crushes Select Swatches

Hey guys!

I have one more set of Sinful Colors polishes to share with you today, this time from the new Crystal Crushes collection which is the brand's foray into texture polishes. The press release I got describes these as a matte texture with a reflective pearl tone. Let's take a look at the 2 I have from this collection!

This is Treasure Chest, a Tiffany blue with golden shimmer. I did 2 coats. The formula took a bit to dry down to a textured finish so I was able to snap a photo that sort of looks like it would with top coat. This is one of my favorite colors so I really like this one. The shimmer is the kind that gets everywhere during removal though, so beware!

And this is Emerald Envy in 2 coats. The formula and removal were the same as Treasure Chest, except I feel like the texture was a little more visible.

If you are looking for an affordable way to jump on the texture trend, the Crystal Crushes line is a great option!

I believe this is a Walgreens exclusive line and they retail for $2.99.

Sally Hansen Sugar Coat: Pink Sprinkle and Royal Icing

Hey everyone!

Last week, I had a handful of the newer Sugar Coat polishes from Sally Hansen to show you and today I've got a couple more. These ones have glitter involved!

This is Pink Sprinkle, a berry toned pink with larger, almost iridescent flakies. This is 2 coats. Super pretty!

I'm sure you have all seen Royal Icing because it's definitely the standout of the glittery Sugar Coats. On it's own, it's very sheer so I decided to layer one over black to really bring out the color shifting iridescence in the formula. It's definitely a different look, but it's nice that you can get 2 drastically different looks from one bottle...delicate or edgy.

I definitely prefer the glitter textures to the creme ones.

Sally Hansen Sugar Coat Swatches

Hey polish friends!

I know these are nothing new to the polish world, but they are new to me! The Sally Hansen Sugar Coat line is my first creme texture polish experience. I have to say they are quite different from the glittery versions, which I can say that I prefer to these. I can still appreciate these ones though! Let's  take a look:

First is Sour Apple, a minty green.  

Bubble Plum, an almost pastel purple/magenta.

Cherry Drop, a bright, true red.

Laughie Taffy, a deep navy blue.

Gummy Grape, a dark purple.

Spare-a-Mint?, a bright teal.

Sugar Fix, a pure white.

These are just a few selections from the creme line, so if you like these there are more to be had! :) The formula for these was about the same for all, 2 coats, pretty easy to apply. The texture effect makes itself more apparent the longer they dry. 

I feel like most people either love or hate texture polishes. Which side of the fence are you on?

Essie No Place Like Chrome + Nail Art

Good afternoon!

Continuing on in my installment of patriotic nail art today, I have somewhat of a fail to share with you. I like this design but my execution didn't happen the way I thought it would. I tried the hole punched masking tape as a stencil idea that I saw on Chalkboard Nails. My texture polishes didn't really translate on the nail as well as her's did. I have been trying to branch out with my nail art lately but you can't win them all I guess! ;)

My base is Essie No Place Like Chrome with OPI Get Your Number and Julie G Hot Cinnamon for the hearts.

I've got 2 more looks to finish out my 4th themed nail art so stay tuned this week!

JulieG Rock Candy

Hello!

This is the first of the JulieG Gumdrops polishes that I tried from my Groupon promo. These are the only textured polishes I own although I feel like there are more than ever coming out right now! I went through a phase of feeling like I had all I could have in my stash in terms of what I like and what's out there. And then the indie polish world exploded and the bigger companies have tried competing, new innovations in polish happen and there are more than ever out there....I feel like I'm drowning in all the new things! haha

Anyway! This is just a quick swatch of Rock Candy, a super sparkly teal green. I really liked wearing the texture trend for the first time but I don't feel like I need to get every one out there because I'm not just dying over it. Fun to own a few though!
